Puppy Program

The Puppy Program is a good tool in order to change the defiant behavior of your teen.

Puppy Programs Teach Final Touches

Puppies are then sent to one of several correctional institutions around the area to be house trained, and learn a large variety of tasks. Once they are trained they are integrated into either of the two puppy programs at Tipton or Meadowlark Academy. The final training and exposure to everyday experiences are taught at these puppy programs. The daily routine at either of these schools is perfect for assisting the dogs at learning to avoiding distractions.

Importance of Dog Training

The dogs must learn to sit quietly by the table when the students are eating. The dogs are not allowed to eat table food, and they must learn not to beg for people food. This enables the eventual owner to take the dog to a restaurant or anywhere without embarrassment. The dogs must virtually be able to ignore distractions of any kind. The last thing a person in a wheel chair needs is a dog tied to his wheelchair that wants to run away from a noise. The last thing a blind person needs is a dog that leaves his side because of a noise or distraction. It is extremely important that the dogs receive the necessary training to adequately assist their eventual new owners.

Graduation Ceremony

When a dog is trained sufficiently to be passed along to its new owner there is a graduation ceremony. Usually there are several dogs and several new owners in attendance at the graduation ceremony. The puppy program dog trainers are usually allowed to attend the ceremony. This graduation ceremony is a very touching event. There are many tears shed by both the academy trainers, and the grateful new owners. This experience alone can be a life changing event in the life of a troubled teen.
